ICE-CREAMS
PREP TIME 20 MINUTES (+ FREEZING) MAKES 12
45cm licorice strap
12 square−based ice−cream cones
2 litres vanilla ice−cream
220g bottle chocolate Ice Magic
edible silver glitter
1 Cut licorice strap into three 15cm
lengths; cut each length into 4 strips.
2 Using a skewer, make a small
hole near the base of each cone
(not through the bottom; otherwise,
the cones won’t stand up). Push end
of licorice strip into each hole for
a microphone lead.
3 Push some ice−cream firmly into
cones to hold licorice in place. Fill
cones with ice−cream until level with
tops of cones.
4 Using an ice−cream scoop,
top cones with ice−cream domes.
Place cones on a tray; freeze for
10 minutes or until firm.
5 Pour Ice Magic into a small bowl;
dip ice−cream into chocolate, sprinkle
with edible glitter. Return cones to
freezer until required.
PARTY COOLERS
Serve chilled bottles of various
flavoured mineral waters with
different−coloured straws.
PARTY FOOD
Start the party by serving a variety
of chilled, flavoured mineral waters
to keep the disco dancers on the
dance floor. For sustenance, serve
“mini hot dogs” with lashings of
mustard (American−style, of course)
and tomato sauce, followed by
cooling microphone ice−creams
(see page 121).
