Constantia’s newest restaurant is attracting
local foodies with serious chops

ape Town’s Constantia winelands
can feel like a game of potluck if
you’re a stranger to the area.
Pocketing all sizes of estates and some of
the best restaurants in the country, a
commitment to navigating the Cape’s
leafy back roads is what led us to Blanko,
the Alphen Boutique Hotel’s newly
opened ine dining restaurant.
Populated by locals day in and day out,
the modern eatery ofsets an all-white
interior with exposed ceiling beams and
thick-planked wooden loors, revealing
the Cape Dutch building’s heritage.

fondness for art, you’ll ind Kentridges
and Goldblatts on the walls.

Deetlefs curates an Italian-hearted
menu, laying the white marble tables
with pre-dinner canapés like cured
and marinated seafood or fried green
olives. We’d fault you for missing the
White Anchovies on the starters menu,
while your mains will call on your
decision making skills with Crumbed
Veal, Lamb Shank and Balsamic Fillet
Tagliata crowning the ield of choice.
Set in extensive grounds in which
it’s worth walking of your meal,
you’ll likely ind yourself thinking that
a room in the hotel might have been
