accountant and joined the Crest Nicholson Group in 1971. Eight
years later he bought Chernikeeff, an ailing marine computer-
network-integration company, for £133,000 , selling the business
20 years later for £300m in two tranches. Harrison, 80, is a
generous supporter of charities via two eponymous Reigate-
based foundations, with £49m net assets between them, and is a

The Adventures of Tintin were the work of Belgian artist Hergé,
whose second wife was Fanny Vlamynck, a studio colourist 27
years his junior. Ten years after Hergé died in 1983 Vlamynck
married London-born Rodwell , 64. Based in Switzerland, the
couple promote and protect Hergé’s legacy via their Brussels-

Hertfordshire resident Salina Amorini, 62 later this month, is the
granddaughter of the founder of Geneva-based multinational
SGS, which provides equipment to help businesses ensure their

The Dishoom chain of restaurants in London and Edinburgh is the
latest venture from the Thakrars, who found themselves expelled
from Uganda by Idi Amin’s regime in 1972. Known as the “rice
kings of Britain”, with more than half the market, the family,
represented here by Thakrar, 60, brought basmati rice to the
UK’s fast-growing Asian community. From this emerged its
Rainham-based operation Tilda Rice, which was sold in early

Kurdish-born Cola fled Iraq when Saddam Hussein came to
power and runs luxury hotels in London including the five-star

Westbury in Mayfair. His Cola Holdings made £72 m profit in 2015,
largely derived from the sale of the 170-bedroom Kingsway Hall
hotel in Covent Garden. Cola, 74, took a £110m dividend in the

De Botton, 65, was once listed by magazine ARTnews as among
the world’s top 200 art collectors. Her second husband was

Port Talbot-born Evans, 59, has floated 20 biotech start-ups. Arix
Bioscience went public this year and has a market cap of £200m,

Life Sciences fund in Cardiff has 10 companies worth more than

MICHAEL FLATLEY

Fancy footwork has made a fortune for Flatley, 58. Now a year
into retirement but still choreographing his Lord of the Dance
extravaganza, he is packing theatres more than 20 years since
his Riverdance heyday. The Chicago-born former construction
worker has also sold at least 15m dance DVDs. He has homes in

Glendonbrook — also known as Michael Bishop — is a former
chairman of Midlands-based airline bmi and was one of the first
openly gay senior executives in corporate Britain. He sold his
stake for £223m in 2008 and he also made £32m from the sale
of British Regional Airlines. Cheshire-born Glendonbrook, 75, has
given more than £1m to the Conservatives. 2016: £200m, 515=

London-born Landon, 35, is the film-maker son of the late
Brigadier Tim Landon, who played a key role in the 1970 coup
that deposed the Sultan of Oman and was rewarded handsomely.
His assets included lavish homes, yachts and Faccombe Estates,
a £30m Hampshire farming operation. The officer’s fortune was
estimated at £500m but we cut his son’s inheritance to £200m,

US-based technology expert Reeves, who was born in Dorset, set
up an operation last October developing commercial uses for
augmented and mixed reality. After moving to America in 1984
Reeves, 57, sold his first telecommunications business, Sahara
Networks, for $212m in 1997. He then built Sirocco Systems,
