Founded by Icelandic siblings Agust, 52, and Lydur, 49, Bakkavor
supplies microwave meals and other food to supermarkets
including Tesco and Sainsbury’s. The pair lost control of the firm
after the Icelandic financial crisis but a deal last year with the US
hedge fund Baupost Group, which the brothers part-own, put
them back in charge. Profits at London-based Bakkavor Group
rose to £47 m on sales of £1.7bn in 2015. 2016: £110m, 885=

RUPERT HAMBRO AND FAMILY
Finance

Boutique investor Hambro Perks was set up by Hambro, 73, and
entrepreneur Dominic Perks to deliver capital for start-ups such
as the London gin maker Sipsmith , which made a nice return for
Hambro after a controlling stake was sold. His family also made
£50m from the sale of its merchant bank. 2016: £150m, 685=

The Highcross property fund management group founded by
Croydon-born Mich ael, 78, was sold for £635m , while the sale of
his Quantel special-effects operation netted him £60m. He later
made more than £20m from building Classic FM and established
California’s Peter Michael Winery. His Hungerford -based parent
company had £37.9m net assets in 2015. 2016: £150m, 685=

Caravan parks and leisure

Cumbrian entrepreneur Morphet, 62, sold his South Lakeland
Caravans business for £115m in 2006 and diversified into luxury
developments. His Pure Leisure Group runs 11 caravan parks
nationwide and his 750-acre Barbados holiday resort is on sale
for £75m. He lives on the Isle of Man. 2016: £140m, 734=

SIR DAVID MURRAY AND FAMILY
Investment and metals

Former Rangers football club owner Murray, 65, lost his legs in a
car crash while still in his twenties. He built a business empire
with interests including mining, property development and call
centres but his fortune suffered during the financial downturn
and he dropped out of the Rich List for seven years. The success
of Edinburgh-based Murray Capital Group heralds his return.
Profits soared to £17.7m in 2015 on £135m sales and it has assets
exceeding £51 m , including two French vineyards. New entry

In the 1960s S J Phillips of Mayfair traded the jewels and other
personal effects of Catherine the Great. Founded in 1869, it is one

of the world’s oldest family-owned antique and jewellery shops.
The firm is led by Norton, 74, with the extended family and trusts
owning the £110m operation. The family sold its New Bond Street
store 18 months ago for more than £70m. 2016: £150m, 685=

JAMIE AND JOOLS OLIVER
Food and media

The business ventures run by the cheeky-chappie TV chef have
gone off the boil. Turnover at his main media operation, Jamie
Oliver Holdings, fell by 20% to less than £32m in 2015 and he has
closed his Recipease deli-cum -cooking-school outlets and Union
Jacks restaurants. His big break came when he was working at
London’s River Café, where he was spotted by a TV producer. A
string of shows followed and by 2012 he had sold 10m books.
Essex-born Oliver, 41, and his wife, Jools, 42, celebrated the birth
of their fifth child, River Rocket, last August. 2016: £160m, 640=

Internet retailing and fashion

Passi, 34, founded the online clothes retailer Missguided in 2009
with a £50,000 loan from his father. Sales climbed by 34% to
£117m in 2015-16, helped by the endorsement of TV personality
Nicole Scherzinger, who produced a 62-piece collection for
the £150m Manchester-based business. 2016: £133m, 764=

KIRIT AND MEENA PATHAK
Food

Pathak, 64, and his wife, Meena, 60, built Wigan’s Patak Spices,
which was sold for £200m in 2007. The operation was started by
Pathak’s late father, Laxmishanker, who came to the UK from
Kenya as a refugee. Pathak remains involved and has a £15m
stake in another spices business , 0m. 2016: £150m, 685=

Metcalfe, 57, followed up his success at Pret a Manger with a
range of low-calorie Skinny snacks, before selling the brand to
Kettle Foods last September. The £450m Pret chain he and
Sinclair Beecham co-founded in London is now majority-owned
by Bridgepoint, with the pair retaining a 15% holding and Metcalfe
having made £50 from the sale of stakes. Turnover at his Itsu
sushi bar operation rose in 2015 to £82.6m. 2016: £147m, 715=
