Having married artist Vincent Fantauzzo
in 2014, Asher Keddie says she feels
ashamed that her gay friends can’t make
the same commitment. “I feel great
embarrassment that our federal law
recognises heterosexual marriage as
a basic human right, yet regards same-
sex partnerships as inferior,” she says.
Also plaguing the Offspring actor, 42,
is a sense of disbelief that we’re still talking
about same-sex marriage in Australia in- “I just wish this wasn’t a conversation
we were still having,” she says. “I had
hoped we would have progressed to
a point where such a discussion was
absolutely redundant.”
