Berry Angry

i found it bizarre for a
music magazine to do a tribute
for Chuck Berry and mention
the “big” bands inf luenced by
Chuck whilst ignoring the ele-
phant in the room – the Bea-
tles. Yes, that “boring old” band
that just happened to be the
biggest selling band of all-time
also had a significant Chuck
Berry inf luence. You thereby ig-
nored the best quote of all about
Chuck Berry and it came from
John Lennon: “If you tried to
give rock & roll another name,
you might call it ‘Chuck Berry’.”
In your article you mentioned
bands that were inf luenced by
Berry such as the Doors, Grate-
ful Dead & Phish (whoever they

are). Combined these bands
wouldn’t have had album sales
as much as the Beatles. It is a bit
disappointing to not even men-
tion the Beatles in relation to
ChuckBerry–arguablytheir
biggest single inf luence.

Ultimate Badass

“chuck berry: rock & roll
artistfounddeadthisafter-
noon.” I remember that banner
clearly on the news. The thing
is, it was not just the death of an
artist. It was the death of a leg-
end, a god of music and a pioneer
for sure. I remember first hear-
ing his song “You Never Can Tell”
in Pulp Fiction. The most icon-
ic cinematic moment wouldn’t
have happened without him.
He’s the father of rock & roll and
the ultimate badass. Thank you
Rolling Stone for the heart-
warming tribute.

Poor Balance?

i started reading rs with
issue #1, originally for the music
reviews and stories. Then I dis-
covered incredible stories from
the likes of Hunter S. Thomp-
son. The reporting was intelli-
gent, exciting, informative and,
most important, unbiased and
objective. How sad it is for me
to see your journalists are now
blinkered and unquestioning
devotees of the global warming/
climate change cult, fully paid
up members of the Clinton Inc.
fan club, rabid anti-Trump activ-
ists and deluded anti-big busi-
ness/coal/oil/gas dupes. Hunter
would not be impressed.
