Proof of just how much the ocean loves Australia back: Heart Reef, one of nearly 3,

individual reefs that form the Great Barrier Reef off Queensland. Discovered by a pilot in the

1970s, the coral bommie measures 55 feet across and is now off-limits to divers, snorkelers,

and watercraft. Helicopter and seaplane flightseeing tours to view it and surrounding Hardy

Reef formations depart from the Whitsundays’ Hamilton or Hayman islands, as well as from the
