Discover the real
Melbourne by walking its
laneways and arcades.
Start at historic Queen
Victoria Market – “Queen
Vic” – home to two full
blocks of produce, meat,
and seafood stalls, as
well as handicrafts and
great souvenirs.

Head to Degraves Street, a
cobblestoned alley with great street
art and cafés. For a coffee break,
duck into Degraves Espresso Bar,
or for freshly squeezed juices, walk
across the street to hole-in-the-wall
Jungle Juice Bar at Centre Place.

Eat lunch at casual
MoVida (left), which serves
delicious Spanish tapas and
larger shared plates across
the street from Federa-
tion Square. In Chinatown,
Flower Drum’s elegant Can-
tonese cuisine has made it a
Melbourne favorite for
nearly 40 years.

Three cruise itineraries to put Melbourne on your map.
• Seabourn’s 600-passenger Seabourn Encore, a sleek addition designed by Adam D. Tihany that was
christened earlier this year, departs on a Singapore-to-Auckland sailing on November 10. The 40-day
cruise features multiple calls in Indonesia and eight Australia ports, including Melbourne.
• Oceania Cruises’ Regatta embarks on a 14-day voyage from Auckland to Sydney on December 6.
After a stop in Burnie, Tasmania, the 684-passenger ship will anchor in Melbourne from 8 am on
December 16 to 8 pm the following day, allowing passengers ample time to explore ashore.

  • Take in the Great Australian Bight from Crystal Cruises’ 922-passenger Crystal Symphony, a vessel
on which Penthouse Suites offer Jacuzzi tubs and ocean views. The 12-day sailing from Perth to
Sydney departs February 5, 2018, and includes an overnight in Melbourne as well as calls at Margaret
    River and in Tasmania.

Don’t miss the National Gallery of Victoria. Its Ian
Potter Centre at Federation Square displays an Austra-
lian art collection; for international exhibits (as well as
the world’s largest stained-glass ceiling), take a short
walk across the Yarra River to the original building.

Stroll Southbank’s
riverfront promenade
to shop and relax with
a glass of wine at one
of its many cafés.
