f the word ‘ruffles’ conjures up images of Little B

Peep and Adam Ant, then think again. I’m here t

let you know that there’s a new kind of ruffle in

town – and it’s on your favourite denim pieces.

Gucci, Marc Jacobs and Chloé all showcased flut y

ruffles on the catwalk, and they’ve made their way

down the fashion grapevine and popped up on den

• on hems, sleeves and skirts.
  It’s the classic meets the frou-frou – the ultra femi e
  meets the ruggedly masculine. It’s an odd sartorial
  sweet spot that, paired with the right pieces, may ju
  be the most flattering trend you buy all year.
  So what exactly do those pieces look like? Simple.
  A plain white tee (Gap do great variations every sing
  season) or a pair of classic boots like Chloé’s Susann
  style (pricey but worth it – and Vestiairecollective.co

  look fancier and fashiony.
  I challenged myself to style ruffles on ruffles, and fo
  the best way was to opt for this H&M top in
  a classic fabric, ie, the more feminine version
  of the white shirt, with a ruffle down the
  sleeve and a tough zip to offset the girlieness.
  Ruffles on a denim skirt always feels a bit
  too rodeo, but you can stop it all going
  totally cowgirl-on-tour by wearing with
  incongruous pieces like a sporty raglan
  T-shirt, a tougher-looking band tee, or
  battered old leather jacket. Styled with
  your classics like a well-cut blazer, shirt or
  a slouchy trench, you can totally get away
  with wearing it to the office. Well, maybe...
