filter your photos when you’re abroad?
It’s not only because your mini-break
is a hell of a lot more scenic than
your local authority park. It’s because
temperature plays a big part in whether
your skin will look good on Instagram.
“In warm weather, the sun is higher but
closer to the earth, which is more flattering,”
explains Nicolas Degennes, creative artistic
director at Givenchy. That’ll be all those lovely
amber tones thrown out by the hotter, redder
rays. “But in colder climates, where the sun
is lower and further away, the light can leave
you looking a little washed out.” This is
because the light refracts as it collides with
obstacles like clouds and gas particles that
can turn the rays blue, so your skin appears
pastier than usual.
