PUBLISHER’S LETTER

LIFE GOALS

CONSISTENCY IS KEY: MAKE THE

COMMITMENT TO TRAIN FOR LIFE.

There’s more than one way
to skin a cat, as the saying goes.
In bodybuilding, everyone has
their own preferred ways of doing
things, and that makes perfect
sense, as every body is unique
in its own way. But ultimately,
it all comes down to two crucial
elements - good nutrition and
consistent hard training.
One thing our cover man,
Frank Zane, says in this issue
particularly resonates with me:
“One workout doesn’t lead to
anything,” he says in “The Zane
Way” on page 44. “It’s continuous
workouts, and how that goes
depends on my motivation. You’ve
got to have a reason for doing
any kind of hard training. That’s
what it takes to get in shape.”
While every workout counts,
it’s your training as a whole, not
just what you do on one day,
that leads to results. In turn, if
you do have to miss a workout,
for whatever reason, there’s no
need to beat yourself up about
it. If you’re consistent with your
training, missing the occasional
day is not going to spell disaster
for your gains.

YOURS IN IRON,

Ian Brooks

The training and dietary lifestyle
required to be a bodybuilder
certainly isn’t for everyone.
It takes discipline, and it means
pushing your body to its limits
on a regular basis. And to be a
bodybuilder takes a lot more than
pure physical strength. It also
requires an inner strength -
a fierce determination to keep
on going. Because if you really
want to reach your goals, you
have to keep on going.
As Zane also says about
consistency, the ideal here is
to train for longevity – to commit
to doing it for the rest of your
life. By commiting to your
training and by setting realistic,
achieveable goals, you can
build the inner strength that
will motivate you to continue
on your path, to continue to
improve and to continue to
motivate and inpsire others.
Stay strong, and keep training.
