“Cold brew coffee is showing up in
many forms in the US,” says Bob
Burke, principal of Natural Products
Consulting and an expert in health
food and beverage trends. “As the
category evolves, we’re seeing cold

creamy – just like Guinness! People
a r e t a k i n g c o l d b r e w c o f f e e a n d
adding coconut oil, almost like
bulletproof coffee. There’s also
bag-in-a box cold brew in offices and
added protein [varieties].” This trend
has already crossed the ditch to Oz.
TRY Califia Farms ready-to-drink cold
brews with almond milk, which have
launched into Coles and Woolworths.

AN COLD BREW
Savoury yog is where it’s at.
“Expect new varieties of yoghurt
on supermarket shelves – they’re
more like sauces than dessert,”
says food industry expert Jane
Milton. We have sweeter veg-
based yoghurts, like Yummia,
but in the US, savoury yoghurts
like Blue Hill (bluehillyogurt.com)
have hit shelves, with carrot,
tomato, sweet potato, butternut
pumpkin, parsnip and beetroot
alternatives that are gluten-free,

US company Dreaming Cow
has also introduced a range of
drinkable vegetable yoghurts
with flavour combos like peach,
ginger, pumpkin and carrot.
