WRONG
2009
One of the band's most disturbing
videos. A masked kidnap victim is
driven backwards through a city
as chaos ensues all around. DM
put in a brief cameo but this is all
about creating
a disquieting
atmosphere. Don't
miss the shock end.

over this promo for the lead track

and its star Lysette Anthony looks
breathtakingly
beautiful. Dave's

Salt-N-Pepa get set to

Push It one more time
Just when you thought pop star milestones were all
done and dusted, along come Salt-N-Pepa with 30th
anniversary plans.
The rap trio − Cheryl ‘Salt’ James, Sandra ‘Pepa’
Denton and Deidra ‘DJ Spinderella ‘ Roper − are
working on a brand new album. Denton recently
revealed that the band were going into the studio and
recorded a couple of songs.
“One thing about us is that we’re perfectionists,”
Spinderella told website Billboard.com, “and we
know that there’s a demand, but when we do it, it’s
gotta be comfortable for us. Once we do it, it’s
gonna be right.”
The ground-breaking rappers sold more than
15 million records back in the day and will be
appearing across the UK later in the year alongside
Vanilla Ice, Coolio, Color Ne Badd, Tone Loc and
Young MC as part of the I Love Nineties Tour.

The Mark of greatness

N

ew Kids On The Block returned with
another brand new single titled
Thankful last month.
The quintet has
enjoyed
renewed success since
reforming in 2008,
but Donnie Wahlberg
wants to take their revival
to the next level and get his
movie star brother Mark Wahlberg on board.
Donnie says: “I think the entire band can
agree we have had more success this time
round than when we were younger and we are
really enjoying it now. We really are having a
lot of fun and, yeah, I would love to see Mark
perform with New Kids – it would be a lot of
fun and he’s got some hidden talents!”
Mark had some chart success of his own as
Marky Mark And The Funky Bunch in 1991.

BOWIE STILL THE MAN
David Bowie was offi cially the UK’s most
popular recording artist last year. More
than 1.6 million Bowie albums were
purchased or streamed in 2016, a fi gure
way ahead of Adele and Drake according
to the latest edition of All About the
Music 2017.
The book, which offers a detailed
insight into the successful year in British
recorded music, covers facts, fi gures and
the impact that streaming and the vinyl
revival are having on music consumption
and trends. More than 100 catalogue
tracks were streamed over 10 million
times last year, including The Killers’
2003 hit Mr Brightside which pipped the
likes of Queen and Phil Collins as the most
streamed song of 2016.
UK artists posted another strong
international performance in 2016 with
one in eight albums sold globally, making
the UK the world’s third largest music
market again.
