Scoffing KFC in the private jet? Go heavy on the tomato sauce;
its compounds curb cell damage, improving your skin’s ability
to withstand environmental stress (Newcastle University).

01 / Plan ahead
Charismatic though
you may be, any
presentation
delivered off-the-
cuff is likely to lack
focus and clarity.
Start your prep
two days in advance
and don’t let your
ego fool you into
thinking you can
wing it – even a
rough agenda is
a must.

02 / Stand out
Presence isn’t
innate, but rather
something that can
be acquired. Stand
tall, try to make eye
contact with
members of your
audience and speak
slowly, clearly and
unapologetically.
Pay attention to your
posture, too – The
Donald would never
be caught slouching.

03 / Be engaging
Whatever you’re
covering, frame your
presentation from
the audience’s
perspective, not just
your own and it will
become infinitely
more enthralling.
Remember, you’re
not making your
company great again
for yourself, are you?

04 / Tell a story
A good presentation
should always have
a narrative. Facts
might get people
thinking, but it’s
emotion that leads to
them making things
happen. That time
you played golf with
the Japanese prime
minister is a good
one. Don’t forget:
you’re the best!

When it comes to getting the masses and/or
investors onside, developing a compelling
presentation is key. And while the President’s
public speaking is famed for non-sequiturs
and misplaced bravado (you are fake news!),
he still manages to win over crowds.
Ashbridge Business School professor Mike
Brent (great guy!) shows you how it’s done.
