enovo took asimilar ‘kitchen sink’ approachto Asus,
announcing nofewer than seven laptops andahost of
other products ranging from smart displaysto phones.
There waseven an AR game based on Marvel’s superhero
characters, Marvel: Dimensionof Heroes.
Some of the laptops were merely refreshesof recent
models–the Yoga 940,forinstance,ist he Yoga C930
(Shopper377)with Intel’s 10th-gen CPUs–but there were
some highlights. The MotorolaZoom One smartphone
brings quad-sensor rear camerasto the mid-range,offering
a48-megapixel main sensor,a10x zoom lens,adepth
sensor and an ultrawide angle unitfor£379.
Three different smart displays were also unveiled
(right), allof which are poweredby Google Assistant.
One of these is pretty conventional–the Lenovo Smart
Display7–but the others, the SmartTabM8a nd Yoga
Smart Tab, are distinct in that theycan also be removed
from the base and used as regular Android tablets.

T

he big revealforSony was theXperia 5, its latest flagship smartphone
(left). It borrowsatrick from the recentXperia 1, itself an ultra-premium
handset,by includingalong, 21:9 aspect ratio
OLED screen. It’s smaller than theXperia 1’s
display, at 6.1in, but this–combined with
some extremely thin bezels–makes fora
smaller,lighter device that’s easierto handle.
No UK pricing isavailable yet, but it will be
on saleby the time you read this, and will
cost €799 in the restof Europe. That’s about
£709,£140 less than theXperia 1.
Sony also announcedalimited edition
Walkman (right)to mark the legendary
music player’s 40th anniversary.It’s £400,
which isalot fornostalgia’s sake,but the
design is cute: the MP3 player itself comes
in acase designedto mimic the original
cassetteplayers, and the 3.6in displayplays
alittle tape graphic as the music plays.

Q

ualcomm Snapdragon laptops never really caught on
after abriefburst of excitement in 2017,but Samsung
is giving them another go with the Galaxy BookS(right) and
its purpose-built Snapdragon 8cx processor.

battery life. 4G connectivity will beavailable, too, provided
UK carriers pick it up.Right now, only US carriers are
confirmed, as is US pricingof $999 (£800) and upwards.
We’ll be keeping aneyeonitregardless, partlyto see how
the 8cx holds up running Windows 10, and partly because
it’s so beautifully thin and light. At just 11.8mm thick and
weighing 960g, it joinsagrowing numberof sub-1kg
ultraportablesto be revealed at theevent.
