their kids, Alanna and Jade launched Femeconomy.
It’s a website that lists over 810 brands that are at
least 50 per cent female owned or have 30 per cent
women on the board. Started last September, the
company has a reach of over 165,000 women.

When they were made redundant
from their marketing jobs during the
GFC, Marissa and Sarah created the
fi rst fashion and lifestyle market on
the Gold Coast. Showcasing works of
designers and artisans, The Village
Markets has become a celebrated
business and provided a launch pad
for more than 1000 small businesses.

FOUNDER OF ADORE BEAUTY
At age 21, working on a beauty counter,
Kate realised that the traditional beauty
retail experience can be intimidating and
unpleasant. Kate was inspired to create
an online beauty boutique that off ered a
more empowering shopping experience.
And so Adore Beauty was born out of her
garage. Fast-forward 16 years and it’s
Australia’s leading online destination for
beauty products and cosmetics.
