Destiny: Ian Spanier has

had a camera since he

was 6. “I tried not to be

a photographer, but it

always seemed to come

around,” he says. “When I

was in college, I wanted

to be a trainer for a pro

sports team.” But he found

himself spending more

time in the darkroom than

in the training room.

Get That Shot: “I don’t

have that click in my brain

that tells me not do some-

thing,” he says. “I have

hung backward off a cliff ,

landed on aircraft carri-

ers, worked inside a pen

with two wild wolves and

entered a shark cage with

15 circling great whites.

I love what I do, and

sometimes that eclipses

the situation.”

The Write Stuff : Jill

Schildhouse started her

writing career in the

fourth grade. She wrote

a book, and it earned

her a spot representing

her school at the Young

Authors Conference.

Later, she earned a

degree in corporate

communications with a

focus in journalism.

Hot Stuff : Schildhouse,

who lives in Phoenix, has

a perfect plan for dealing

with the summer heat: “I

travel as much as pos-

sible. I make it my goal to

escape to cooler climates

or to beach getaways.

My freelance business

allows me to travel since I

can work from anywhere

in the world with internet !”

Young Artist: From a

young age, Donna Gast

was involved in all things

artistic. “Painting and

drawing were my strong

points. At 19, I began my

career in special eff ects

makeup for fi lm, then I

transitioned into makeup

and hair for advertising in

print and commercials.”

Lucky Break: “I don’t

think there was a single

moment that felt like I

had a big break. Instead,

I found that a couple of

years into my career, I

was working on some

big advertising cam-

paigns, and I’ve been

lucky to work with many

celebrities, athletes,

models, former presi-

dents. I enjoy what each

day brings and who it

brings into my chair!”
