Thank you for the list of Top 100 movies of all
time in the July Empire. It is always interesting to
know which movies will be included in the list.
My all-time favourite movie Die Hard made the

MY TOP 10 BEATS YOUR TOP 10
Hi Empire, I was inspired by your July
issue’s article featuring famous directors’
Top 10 lists of movies, so I’ve had the guys
and gals down at the lab to do some very
thorough research and am pleased to
announce I have the OFFICIAL list of the
‘Top 10 Movies Of All Time’. All answers are
final and there can be no further debate. Here
goes: 1.Pulp Fiction 2. Escape From New York 3.

LETTER
OF THE
MONTH
Hey Empire, as a
dedicated
15-year-old
aspiring filmmaker,
Empire magazine is my
guide book to life, and to have a successful
career. And of course there is always the
posters to look forward to every month. But in
the July 2017 issue, my world has been turned
upside down. How do you have the courage to
put Baby Driver and Star Wars: The Last Jedi
ON THE SAME SHEET OF PAPER! As a fan of
Star Wars and Edgar Wright, it is impossible to
decide which side to hang up. Both are such
beautiful pieces of artwork that I want to frame
and proudly hang both. So please, next time
can you put a really great poster on one side
(like Dunkirk) and then on the other a really
bad poster (like The Emoji Movie?) Please don’t
make a film buff make these hard decisions.
AARON BAHAMONDES, VIA EMAIL

Hopefully our Dunkirk poster this month
makes up for the upset, Aaron. And because of
the great pic you sent in featuring a crying
Michael Jordan, you also get a F8 poster
signed by Scott Eastwood to go along
with your F8 disc! You’re welcome.

EVERY printed letter scores a copy of
The Fate Of The Furious on BD or DVD.

Science lately? We love us some John Hughes
as much as the next guy, but that puppy has not
aged well...

TOP 100 MOVIES: NOT GROOVY
Guys, great Top 100 issue but (like many others,
I’m assuming) I thought the list had some notable
flaws. The more egregious of them I’ve noted
below, with my reasoning:
The Dark Knight: Nolan has managed to strip the
fun out of Batman
Return Of The King: long and boring
The Two Towers: long and boring, but it does have
Helm’s Deep
The Departed: fine as a Scorsese comedy, awful
every other way
The Thing: the characters do some stupid things
IMO
Mad Max: Fury Road: not even the best Max.
Jam-packed with CGI when it’s supposedly
old school
Saving Private Ryan: probably deserves a spot but
history hasn’t been kind. Too much Spielberg sap
There Will Be Blood: take an hour out and it
might be a great film
Gladiator: not terrible but it’s spawned too many
scenes of someone walking through a wheat field
