have remarked that tastelessness and all its comforts derived from fears of style
and of its responsibilities. But the highest conceivable manifestation of style is
the clearest form of the resolved, the assimilation and the conciliation of all
questions of choice and selection. This is granted only to artists and perform-
ers of very high caliber indeed.
