ULYANA
SERGEENKO
Baddies are often far more sartorially
memorable than goodies, which is why
Russian designer Ulyana Sergeenko
has drawn her inspiration from on-
screen villains. Sergeenko immersed
herself in the 1940s for this collection,
sending models down the catwalk
with finger waves, red lips and jauntily
perched berets in a show straight out
of film noir. The first few looks were
dramatically styled solely in black—with
the exception of standout brooches,
such as a crystal-embellished gun—but
a softer tone prevailed as the collection
continued with boudoir robe coats,
pretty pastel frocks, ribbon accents and
floral embroidery. After all, a villain has to
be a master of disguise.
