MATERIALS
25mm x 25mm square, 1.6mm-thick painted,
square hollow tubing

  • Four x 300mm long

  • Four x 400mm long

  • Four x 450mm, 45-degree-mitre-cut lengths
    2.1mm mild steel checkerplate

  • One 150mm x 150mm square

  • Four 600mm top x 150mm bottom x 380mm
sides (trapezoidal shape). Drill two holes about
90mm from the bottom of each plate.

DIY

  1. Tack together the mitre-
    cut pieces to assemble
    the top frame.
    4. Tack the trapezoidal
    checkerplate sections
    together and fit the
    baseplate to form the pit.
    2. Tack on the 300mm
    sections to form legs.

  2. Check it all fits, then
    go back and finish
    the welds. Make sure
    you stitch in different
    locations so you don’t
    overheat one area and
    burn a hole.

  3. Tack in the 400mm sections
    to form supports.
    6. A clean up and paint
    and you’re ready to go!
