What Tradies Want — August-September 2017

(Axel Boer) #1
DeWALT has launched what could be the
coolest and most wanted gadget for 2017.
Possibly the smallest laser distance measure
on the market, the DW030PL is about the
same size as a garage remote control, if not
smaller, and weighs practically nothing. With
a maximum error of +/-6mm and a working
range of nine metres, it’s ideal for anyone
doing quick internal estimating and measuring
jobs. Because of the size, normal batteries are
a no-no, so this little beauty is equipped with
an internal rechargeable lithium-ion battery
charged via a supplied USB cable.
The DW030PL is available now and will
retail for around $35 – about the same price

as a quality tape measure!
We got our hands on this awesome little
product and don’t be fooled by its size.
It’s no toy. From the tests here at WTW the
DeWALT mini laser was as accurate as a tape
and allowed for extremely easy single-person
use. We used it for measuring in between
posts for handrails, on a ceiling for V-groove
boards and, even though it’s designed for
internal use, we tested it outside on a fascia
for gutter lengths.
DeWALT is on a great run at the moment, and
this little beauty won’t disappoint. Another
time-saving, must-have product.

ISUZU TRI-TIPPER

IS READY TO WORK

Isuzu Australia Limited (IAL) is excited to
announce an innovative new addition to its
popular Ready To Work range of trucks: the
NLR 55/45-150 Tri-Tipper.
With its Japanese factory-built tipper body –
which can tilt to the left, right or rear – Isuzu’s
NLR 55/45-150 Tri-Tipper will make drivers
the envy of any work site they roll on to.
“It offers much greater flexibility, meaning
customers are less dependent on access,”
said Simon Humphries, IAL’s Chief Engineer,
Product Strategy.
“A council might need to spread mulch
along on a nature strip, for example. The
Tri-Tipper allows them to do this with an

ease well beyond what’s possible if they’re
reliant on a traditional tipper that only tilts
at the rear.”
The truck’s prebuilt tipper body is
constructed with durable heavy-duty steel
and features drop sides and an auto-release,
two-way tailgate. It also has an auto-release
body, lockdown hook, shovel rack and non-
slip side steps.
The tipper function offers 20-second raise
and lower times and rope rails on both left
and right sides.
The new Isuzu is ready to be put to work
the minute the NLR is registered and driven
out of the dealership – another big positive

for businesses looking to ensure their
equipment is generating optimum return
on investment.
Under the skin is the popular Isuzu 4JJ1-
TCS engine, rated at 110kW@2800rpm and
375Nm@1600rpm to 2800rpm. The engine –
coupled with the robust Isuzu MYY-5T five-
speed manual transmission – means there’ll
be no shortage of horsepower, and a GVM of
5500kg (which can be de-rated to 4500kg so
it can be driven on a car licence) adds to the
overall package.
The NLR 55/45-150 Tri-Tipper is arriving in
Isuzu dealerships from May 2017.
