We’re so delirious we’re quoting
Russell Crowe! This was,
however, the first thing that
jumped into our collective heads
when the final hooter echoed
out over Jeffreys Bay. We wanted
Filipe to snatch the microphone
from Strider’s hands and, with
rolled-back crazy eyes, yell that
exact phrase into the camera during
his post-victory interview.
For those that missed the J-Bay
Open (seriously, where were you?),
this year’s event had everything.And we do mean everything. And if
you weren’t entertained, then you
never will be.
Injuries, upsets, perfect 10s,
sharks, ripping rookies, less-than-
perfect 10s, heat re-starts, judging
drama, boat drivers with a death
wish, a questionable 10 (more like
an eight) and perhaps the best
waves we have seen at J-Bay since
the ’80s...
Take that, Fiji!
