MACHU PICCHU KAYAK FEST, PERU, NOVEMBER 2017

On November 2-4, the Machu Picchu Kayak Fest will once again fill the streets of Santa Teresa with color as kayakers celebrate the sport and the
spectacular scenery of South America. Now in its second year, this event will showcase the world’s top kayaking talent on different sections of the
Vilcanita River, located near the Inca’s citadel in Cusco, Peru. With beautiful sections of whitewater ranging from Class II to V+, the event is enjoyable
for kayakers of any level. Beginners can have fun under the stunning landscape of
the Peruvian Andes, while professional and expert kayakers can challenge themselves
with Class V and V+ whitewater. All skill levels will be accounted for in each of the four
competitions that will place over the weekend – a downriver race, a boater cross, a
slalom and SUP. Thanks to high demand, the all-inclusive package for the festival has
returned. For $100 USD, kayakers will receive transportation between races, lodging
in a private room at the Cocalmayo Lodge riverside resort, delicious Peruvian meals,
entry to DJ’s, race entry fee and a race bib. Athletes will also have the opportunity to
introduce Peruvian children to kayaking. The Machu Picchu Kayak Fest aims to promote
Peru as an international destination for kayaking. The event hopes to inspire Peruvian
youth to pursue the sport, and involve them in the global whitewater community. The
festival also promotes river conservation in Peru, and benefits the local community of
Santa Teresa. To sign up or volunteer, please check out machupicchukayakfest.com.
Those who sign up early will receive free transportation Cusco-Santa Teresa-Cusco
(four hour bus ride), kayak included.

THE 11TH HIKO DEVILS EXTREME RACE, AUGUST 25TH 2017, CZECH REPUBLIC

Although the rumors that the tenth edition of the popular Czech kayak race on on the Vltava River was the last one, all fans of this great event can remain
calm. The Devils Extreme Race continues for its 11th edition this year, and the organizers promise even more epic kayaking and evening programs than
before! What will year eleven hold? You can look forward to a unique show featuring the best whitewater riders from all over the world. Adidas Sickline World
Champion Sam Sutton, Green Race winner Eric Deguil and Olympic medalist Alexander Grimm have
all competed in the Hiko-sponsored challenge, alongside names big and small. This year the start-list is
already filling with famous names from near and far. While the popular, traditional sprint races through
Window Rapid and the Dam-To-Dam marathon race are back for the eleventh edition, there is one
change for 2017. The Head to Head race will no longer take place in teams of pairs, but in a classic
boater-cross style: a mass start with four kayakers on an extended course through The Stairs Rapid.
There will be a free, official train shuttle every 30 minutes for all competitors again this year. Prizes and
prize money are bigger than ever, with ZET Kayaks putting a total 1,500€ towards prize money for the
race! There will also be a rich evening, with live bands and DJ’s, and a variety of attractions for visitors
including a chill-out zone. There will be food and summer drinks in Louþovice, at the campsite by the
Vltava River. There will be parking, social facilities and basement with a 3,000-visitor capacity in the
festival park area. Check the Devils Extreme Race website and Facebook page to know more! Don ́t
