A psychic glimpse into readers’ lives...

Yes, Mum!

Y

ou never get over
your mum dying.
My amazing mum
Denise
was 74 when she
passed away from
heart disease.
We were so close.
She wrote fairy stories,
and taught me to
believe in angels.
Even when I grew
up and moved out, she
only lived round the
corner to me.
But one day, she just

wasn’t there anymore.
When that bond
was broken, I was
devastated.
Mum was
my best
friend. I’d
no-one to
turn to.
I still
spoke aloud
to her though,
updating her
with
my life,
chatting away.
Then, in early 2016, I
hit a wall with my career.
I’d always dreamt of
writing children’s stories.
But it was so hard to
break into the industry.
My submissions
kept getting rejected.
‘What shall I do, Mum?’ I

asked,
exasperated.
‘Do I carry
on writing?’
Feeling
upset,
I went
downstairs and
switched on the radio.
Suddenly, a booming
voice said, ‘Yes’.
Then, there was silence
before music played. It wasn’t

Mum’s
voice, but
a shiver ran
through me.
She’d
heard me.
Amazingly,
two weeks on,
I received an
acceptance
letter in
the post.
And, as the
months went
by, I got more
and more.
Now,
I’ve a few of
my stories
published in
magazines.
I’ve since read that spirits can
apparently give signs through
television and radio.
If I hadn’t ask my mum for
advice, I’d have given up.
She’s my guardian angel.
And she gave me a clear
sign that I needed to believe
in myself. Just as she once
believed in me.

Signs across the divide by Emmie Harrison

B

obbie’s writing is level and upright, which shows
she’s straight-talking and open in her manner.
Bobbie’s looped ‘I’ and rounded letters reveal an artistic
nature and someone who enjoys wide interests. Some self-
discipline could help as she may often spread herself too thin.
Bobbie should make more of her strengths, especially her
creativity, and her good sense of fun will come to the fore.
