HIDE AND SEEK
Emma Watson is hiding copies
of The Handmaid’s Tale around
Paris in partnership with The
Book Fairies. “If you find a copy,
please read, enjoy and then leave
for someone else to find!” the
actress wrote on her Instagram
account. She left 100 copies
of Margaret Atwood’s classic
around the French capital.

It’s in the bag
Balenciaga has sold out of its $1430 shopping
bags. They look like a run-of-the-mill
cardboard tote which comes free with a
purchase, but are, in fact, calf-skin leather. We
wonder what buyers carried them home in.

HIPSTER KEN Last year, Mattel made headlines (and improved sales)
with a new range of Barbies in body shapes and skin tones that better matched
the diversity of the girls who love her. Now it’s Ken’s turn to step out from
Barbie’s shadow with 15 new identities, including hipster man-bun Ken.

Nobody ever died of a broken heart or did they? A recent
study found the long-term effects of Broken Heart Syndrome

  • in which heart muscles are damaged by the rush of
stress hormones – can cause permanent scarring.

CANINE RESCUE SQUAD
There’s a new search and rescue team
on the beat. Police and firefighters in Sydney are training
a squad of Belgian Malinois dogs to find survivors in the
rubble after explosions, building collapses and earthquakes.
The dogs’ training ground has been designed to replicate an
urban disaster. The dexterous dogs, originally bred for
herding, wear protective boots to bound across the rocky
surface, sniffing out mock survivors in tunnels below.
