REARGUARD

LOOSE BOLTS

TROUBLE 

Loose bolts always manage to fi nd themselves

missing under benches or in the dirt somewhere.

They can also get mixed up, which results in

spending way too much time trying to work out

where the long ones go back.

TRIK 

Once you have removed them, screw them back

into the spot that they came from so you cannot

mix them up or lose them.

EASY POUR

TROUBLE 

Pouring brake fl uid into the master-cylinder

reservoir without spilling it can be tricky. No matter

how gentle you are there is always some that

manages to go on the bike or the ground.

TRIK 

Take a ballpoint pen and press two small holes

opposite each other into the foil on the neck of the

brake-fl uid bottle. These holes will make the fl uid

much easier to pour without spilling.

TUBED UP

TROUBLE 

Bleeding brakes can be a messy job. The fl uid can

spray everywhere and end up all over the wheel,

spokes and disc, possibly ruining your brake pads.

TRIK 

Place a clear tube over the bleed nipple and then

into an empty bottle. As the fl uid comes out you will

see the bubbles in the clear tube and the bottle will

catch the fl uid and prevent a mess.

COVER UP

TROUBLE 

From time to time the straps that secure the petrol

cap cover on the reverse-head Yamahas tend to

break. They can be replaced but can be tricky to

remove from the seat base.

TRIK 

While pulling the straps, use a fl at-blade

screwdriver to pry back the plastic tabs. Once you

pry the tabs back, the straps will pop out and then

you can replace them.
