JS7 TO RACE USGP?
Rumour has it that James Stewart might make
a return to racing at Gatorback Park, for the
penultimate round of the MXGP World
Championship. The Newberry, Florida, track is
not too far from where the Stewarts live. The
rumour was posted on MX Large, but we’re not
sure how much merit it has. James hasn’t
ridden for a while and we’ve all got used to
hot air about his return, so we’re not holding
our breath. Still, it would be good to see the
legend back out there.
REDBUD MXON TIPPED
Next year’s Motocross of Nations has been
pencilled in for 7 October in the U.S., but a
venue has yet to be announced. It has been
speculated that RedBud will do the deed. The
Michigan venue seems to be the fan favourite,
with a track, crowd and atmosphere that is said
to rival European races. Glen Helen Raceway in
California was supposed to host the event this
year, but pulled out after poor crowds when it
hosted last year’s U.S. MXGP and was replaced
by Matterley Basin in Britain and is on 1 October.
The 2018 venue could be announced at the U.S.
MXGP at Gatorback Park on 3 September.
NIGHTMARE AT SOUTHWICK
Freddy Noren got eighth overall in the AMA Pro Motocross round at Southwick, but it wasn’t all smooth
sailing. The Swedish rider didn’t get his bike until late on race-day eve. The friend delivering it had the
turbo in his truck fail, meaning Noren didn’t get to work on his Honda until race morning. Then, during
practice, he blew the engine. Fortunately, a privateer was kind enough to lend him one from his practice
bike. So Noren took the engine and got to the start line, going 8-10 in the two motos. Talk about eventful.
QUOTE OF THE MONTH
“This is one race I have always
wanted to win, being out there
for four hours makes it the
toughest race in Australia by
far! To be able to conquer it with
my diabetes proves it is another
personal challenge I have
been able to overcome. Makes
standing on this top step feel
even better.”

Desert Race victory.
