YAMAHA’S HOODOO

DIRTBIKER ANDREW
FLORES, 22, attempted the
infamous Simi Valley train track
jump and ended up in hospital.
He is the second rider in three
months to unsuccessfully try
the jump made famous by Colin
“Scummy” Morrison in On The
Pipe 1.
Flores was taken to hospital

withseriousinjuriesbutis
expected to make a full
recovery. In April, 24-year-old
Kyle Katsandris also attempted
the jump and wound up in
hospital with critical injuries.
He is the same bloke who
jumped Freeway 60 in
Riverside county, California
earlier this year.

MITCH GETS
FINGERED
ADB’S FEARLESS
LEADER, Mitch Lees, could
be off the bike for as long as
four days after suffering a
severe fi nger injury while
playing AFL. According to
Mitch, he was going for his
20th goal of the match
when he attempted to fend
off the waterboy and bent
his fi nger back in a way God
did not intend.
Early reports have
confi rmed minor bruising
and some swelling, medical
staff are confi dent he will
make a full recovery.

MILNER SETS
US STRAIGHT
LAST MONTH IN ’Top of
the Goss’ we mentioned
that Daniel Milner’s
decision not to race Finke
was because he didn’t like
desert racing. Well, we are
now eating our words
after the KTM rider
dominated Hattah at his
fi rst attempt in fi ve years.
Doogs proved us wrong,
and did so by letting his
riding do the talking. Our
tip is now that he might
enter Finke next year and
is looking good.

DAYMON STOKIE BROKE
Yamaha’s Finke drought
this year with the brand’s
fi rst win since 1986. But his
Yamaha comrades didn’t
fare quite as well in the
dusty desert.
Finke favourite Josh
Green was forced to
withdraw in the fi nal
kilometres of Stage One
due to a mechanical
problem. Dakar star Rod
Faggotter also DNF’d, for
the fi rst time in 11 starts,
after crashing hard and
snapping his handlebar.

At Hattah, things didn’t
get any better for Green,
with the former winner
suffering clutch issues.
Fellow Yammi rider Stefan
Granquist also DNF’d due to
a mechanical.

MONKEY SEE, MONKEY DO

THE INCOMPARABLE
ADB SALES rep, Big Red,
responsible for drowning our
Toyota HiLux (Issue #447)
has struck again, failing to
deliver on a promise of tyres
for our Mitsubishi Triton. It
was all looking so good.
Big Red’s mate Vinnie
knew a guy who knew a guy
who could supply tyres, but
Big Red failed to tell them the
tyres were for a 4WD. This
turned out to be a deal

breaker, as these blokes only
deal with high-performance
cars, and the Triton defi nitely
ain’t one of those. Big Red
was unaware of the
difference in tyres.
Now we have a set of KMC
XD Series monster rims with
no rubber while Big Red has
packed up shop and gone on
holiday to Bali for a rub ’n’...
Bet he managed to get some
rubber for that trip. How
does he still have a job?
