Oh you howl in pain, I
hear it from Cairns. “It can’t
be done!” I say it can be
done! Just bang in a
disclaimer saying this is
what we reckon, if you don’t
like it suck on lemons ... or
something like that...
I ask this for others as I’m
doing up a 2013 KTM 250SX
(above) and morphing it into
a cranky enduro bike, which
I’m loving by the way, and
jetting comes to mind. It was
way too peaky so it’s now
got a 300 jetting kit, which
has richened it up and
softened the on/off switch it
once had. Or am I just
getting better at riding it,
I’ve only done 11 hours of
riding total! Ever...
Cheers for ya time. Ava
bloody great day

P.S. What happens to the
long termers when their
time is done?
That’s a good idea Jas, but prying
those details off the mechanics
might be harder than you think.
The mechanics at our bike tests
and shootouts are the busiest
people there, besides old mate on
BBQ duty. Each test rider is a
different weight, speed and riding
style so the mechanics are always
adjusting every aspect of the bikes
to ensure they suit the rider. Quite
often manufacturers will use our
tests to defi ne settings which they
then pass onto dealers, but they
can be pensive about making this
public knowledge.
Our long-termers go back to the
distributors and sold to dealers.
Occasionally friends will buy them.
