RIDERLESS BIKES
Driverless cars are not too far from becoming a reality. Now ADB can reveal that a
secret group of individuals are developing a prototype of the fi rst riderless motocross
bike. The bike will be able to operate on it’s own via a hi-tech artifi cial intelligence
which will be able to rail berms, clear triples and throw the fattest whips you’ve ever
seen. The rider can sit on the bike and go along for the ride or he can just sit back with
a cold one and watch. The designers put a sidestand on the thing but forgot to make it
extend automatically, meaning if the bike stops, it just tips over. Ah well, back to the
drawing board.

BACK TO THE FUTURE
Okay, okay, so this product isn’t strictly dirtbike related, but hear us out. You might
have heard of Red Digital Cinema. They make super hi-tech and ridiculously expensive
cameras that have been used to shoot everything from The Hobbit to the Finke
highlights package. You might not know, however, that Red was founded by Jim
Jannard, the bloke who started selling motorbike ’grips in the ’80s under the name
Oakley. Now Red is releasing a futuristic smartphone/media player called Hydrogen.
The Hydrogen unit will be able to play back 3D footage without the need for glasses.
Imagine fi lming your mates on a Red Epic and then playing the footage back on the
spot in full 3D. Unfortunately the Hydrogen will set you back at least US $1195 and a Red
Epic costs over US $50,000. Maybe we’ll stick to GoPros and iPhones.
