Australian Road Rider — August 2017

(C. Jardin) #1
Next morning I climbed into the passenger
seat; fortunately, Terry was good company and
we had a few good laughs on the way. I asked
Terry how much it would cost to have the
bike towed from Balladonia to Perth, to which
he replied it would be close to $4000 (choke!
cough! splu er!). BMW Auto Classic would be
closed when we arrived and wouldn’t be open
until Monday, so again I rang assist and they
organised accommodation at the Hya , which
was within reasonable walking distance to the

dealers. Three nights there and fortunately the
bike was ready as the four-day accommodation
was now used up.
The people at assist were great, as were
Alan Gooch and his team at Auto Classic and
Terry Lynch from Terry Lynch Towing. So if
you think that $100 or so for roadside assist
isn’t worthwhile, then go give yourself that
uppercut.

Greg: Bloody hell, Harry, that’s a great yarn.
I’m still staggered at the costs involved. If you
use that saving to purchase assist year a er
year, you’ll be dead and buried before you’ve
exhausted the funds. Could you will what’s le
to me if I survive you? Seriously, I’m a fan of
roadside assistance packages in general. If I
never have to use it, it’s still a good investment,
and the one time I’m stuck in West Bo omream
I’m gonna be very pleased I signed up. Good
news story, mate. On ya.
