hether or not one subscribes to the philosophies of the east or to the almighty god of the
west, Science, there is no denying that everything, all things, on some strange level, touch
W each other, are inextricably connected in a way that transcends space and time.

Enter a man in a white lab coat, babbling incoherently
to the uninitiated about quantum entanglement.
Two particles exist in a yin-yang arrangement.
One is spinning one way, the other, vice-versa. We
cannot really know what either is doing until we
observe them, breaking the fourth wall of Heisenberg’s
uncertainty principle, collapsing the superposed state,
essentially opening Schrödinger’s box.
Given two particles that exist as a ‘system’ with
polarities that must remain intact, observing one,
collapsing its probabilistic states into the binary,
the other’s state must also collapse, no matter the
distance between them.
The lesson, for physicists and Hindu mystics is
precisely the same: every part and parcel of the
universe that we can and cannot see is connected
by tethers stronger than any force we can measure.
There is a layer of reality that binds us all.
How then, can man’s vanity lead him so astray.
Even the Hebrew god called himself ‘I am that I
am,’ a lesson in humility more than anything else,

a way of understanding that when everything is
touching, everything a part of the same whole,
there can be no heirarchy of relationships. The king
is not connected to more pawns than his horse, or
the sun, or a blade of grass that has escaped the
scythe. Birth and death do not disconnect us from
that layer that binds everything. Darkness and light
dance together. Love and hate. Gold and fertiliser.
We glimpse this utterness from time to time in
the synchronicity of life, in the hidden meanings
behind stacked coincidences.
We dream tomorrows, we remember yester-
days that never happened. We meet people at the
absolute right time. Books nd us. Teachers nd
students. Atom bombs create Godzilla archetypes
and the creature that destroys becomes a creation,
a collective yearning for the dance of Shiva her-
self - leaning in vertiginous toward death, all of us,
impatient against time, falling toward eternity,
holding each other’s hands.

RADAR LOVE

I’ve been drivin’ all night, my hand’s wet on the wheel,
ere’s a voice in my head that drives my heel,
It’s my baby callin’, says I need you here,
And it’s a half past four and I’m shiin’ gears

Every action of theirs, that seems to them an act of their own free will, is in an historical sense not
free at all, but in bondage to the whole course of previous history, and predestined from all eternity.
A king is history’s slave.

  • Leo Tolstoy, War and Peace

As far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence
is to kindle a light in the darkness of mere being.
