etting stuck is part and parcel of the offroading experience. We’ve all been there, and we can all agree that
performing the occasional recovery can even add a little spice and excitement to a 4WDing trip.
That said, ‘stuck’ is a broad term and there is certainly a sliding scale between how stuck you are and how much
fun you’re having.
Getting lightly hung up on a soft bit of beach might provide a welcome opportunity to test out a new snatch strap
or set of MAXTRAX... throw a bit of quicksand and a steeply rising tide into the mix and alarm bells start ringing.
Essentially, it’s all fun and games until the odds start to tip against you and it looks like your rig might sustain
some damage, or the spectre of catastrophic vehicle loss starts to icker behind your eyes.
Short of not driving altogether, the single best thing you can do to align the odds in your favour offroad is to arm
yourself with a high quality recovery kit, familiarise yourself with every bit of gear in your kit, and practice using it
until it becomes second nature.
Remember that your recovery kit is your rst, and often last, line of defense. We did the research on all the
recovery kits currently being spruiked by the top manufacturers and cast aside those we wouldn’t want to be
stuck up to the axles with. Dive in and take a look at eight of our favourites.
