OUT &
ABOUT
CLUB MEXICANA
Location: Kerb London in
Camden, London
Summary: Mexican food
with a twist

The place
In the heart of London’s music
scene, great markets and alternative
fashion there is some pretty
amazing food, and lots of it, down
at Kerb London in Camden. Club
Mexicana aren’t just serving up
standard vegan Mexican bites, they
have put their twist on it, pushing
away the preconception that all
vegan food is chickpeas and chia
seeds. T hey’ve gone more for the
meaty side of things like BBQ pulled
jackfruit and beer battered to-fi sh.

The food
Not only is everything vegan, but
nearly all the dishes are gluten-free
as well. They source ethically and
locally wherever possible. T he food
speaks for itself. We opted to try
their famous BBQ pulled jackfruit
burrito, which didn’t disappoint. The
colourful burrito was packed with
black beans, guacamole, salsa, pickles
and vegan sour cream and balanced
with fresh salad. T he BBQ jackfruit
is a must, it has soft chewy texture
that soaks up the BBQ sauce – it
is indeed heavenly. I f you’re not a
burrito fan, check out the other
great bites like the beer battered
to-fi sh with chimichurri, pickled
chilli es and sour cream, or nachos
with cheeze sauce and toppings.
These are the three main dishes
at the Camden stall, but there are
other options at different locations.

WHAT A LOVELY BUNCH!
When you spend ages cooking a delicious vegan dinner it’s always
more satisfying to present it beautifully too, and there are few
things more attractive than these coconut bowls. Made from 100%
natural, recycled and biodegradable coconut shells, they are from
an Australian company who support fair trade practices and have
workshops in Indonesia and Vietnam and plan to expand into more
countries. Although Australian, there is a warehouse in the UK, so
they’re easy to get hold of and are priced at a reasonable £9.99 for
a single bowl and £5.99 for a spoon, plus there are sets available as
well as shell candles. Check them out at eu.coconutbowls.com

TOTALLY TOMATO
We all love a dollop of ketchup on our fries, but it’s quite
concerning to know just how much sugar and salt some
brands contain! So Real Good Ketchup set out on a mission to
create a fl avoursome tomato ketchup without sugar and with
78% less salt. They’ve since won a Gold Free-From Award in
2017 and have also now launched a BBQ Smokey Ketchup
too! Available at Co-op, Wholefoods Market, selected health
food stores, Ocado and Amazon for around £2.39 for a
315g bottle, you can fi nd out more about the ketchups at
