14 that her battle with the

autoimmune disease lupus

had led her to have a secret kidney transplant

over the US summer, her worried first love,

Justin Bieber, reached out. Selena had long

ago cut off all contact with him, so he called

her mum, Mandy Teefey, 41, instead.

‘He was shocked’ by the surgery news, says

a source. ‘He called Mandy to find out what

was going on, and said he wanted to

be there for Selena. Justin told

Mandy he’s truly sorry for

the way he treated Selena

when they were dating

and that he’s grown
