CAPE BYRON
The friendly town of Byron
Bay on NSW ’s northern
coast is home to stunning
beaches, lush rainforests
and new-age retreats, and is
also the setting for three of
the country’s most popular
music events: Byron Bay
Bluesfest, the Falls Festival
and Splendour in the Grass.
There’s no shortage of
breathtaking views, and
some of the best can be
found by embarking on
the Cape Byron Lighthouse
loop walk starting at
Wategos Beach. Take the
detour to Fisherman’s
Lookout to watch the surfers
- and dolphins – at The Pass.
Continue on the track and
you’ll also visit the most
easterly point of mainland
Australia, while the lighthouse
itself offers a great vantage
point for spotting whales.
Complete the circuit with
a stroll through a rainforest
before returning to the water.
