Fans have headed online

to vent their frustration over

the apparent ‘favouritism’

of Ronnie and Georgia,

with one proclaiming,

‘The whole show

is rigged.’

n October 15, The Block will

be open for inspection and

droves of fans are expected

to flock to the Melbourne

suburb of Elsternwick to

view the renovated houses.

But the question is: will they be finished?

Site foreman Keith Schleiger has his fingers

crossed, especially as he gears up to hand out

the dreaded defects lists, several of which are

jaw-droppingly long. ‘Everyone’s panicking

over the fact there are so many issues. One

of the teams has over 115 defects and they

aren’t even the ones with the longest list,’

says a concerned on-set source.

While the Blockheads could be looking

at a massive payout come auction day, with

each property expected to fetch a figure

around the $3 million mark, the pressure is

on to deliver a fully finished house in time.

‘There are some major problems, which

in some instances will require the teams to

basically start their room over from scratch.

If they don’t, there’s real concern the

certificates of occupancy might not come

through from the local council in time,’ shares

the insider. ‘It’s a concern for all involved.’

The epic job ahead will likely come as no

surprise to fans, who have watched endless

issues emerge throughout the series.

These have included everything from

Josh and Elyse’s non-compliant

kitchen to Clint and Hannah’s

$61,000 main bathroom disaster,

which host Scott Cam says the

duo ‘may not recover from’.

Even experienced renovators

Ronnie and Georgia will likely

cop a considerable fix-up list, and

we might see their living room, which Josh

says was ‘poorly built’, possibly come back

to haunt them.

But dealing with a lengthy repairs list, as

well as the renovation of the studio and garage,

isn’t all the teams have on their plate this

week. Another major hold-up will shut down

work on the majority of the houses, and it

has everyone in a panic. ‘It’s going to be one

stressful push to the finish,’ says the insider.
