T

he lights dimmed and then the
lasers leapt to life, signalling
the start of the showpiece
fashion moment at this year’s
Prix de marie claire awards, presented
by Lexus. As guests including Asher
Keddie, Jesinta Franklin and Dannii
Minogue looked on, models wearing the
cream of Australian design flanked the
extravagant dining table – accompanied
by Sia’s “Chandelier”. It was just one of
the many catch-your-breath moments
at fashion’s night of nights.
The evening belonged to the makers,
masters and creatives, as Australia’s fash-
ion and beauty leaders were presented
with awards for excellence and achieve-
ment. “I’ve had so much support over the
years from so many, including marie
claire,” said Akira Isogawa, winner of the
Special Achievement Award, which rec-
ognises designers who have made a last-
ing contribution to local fashion. “I’m
honoured to be acknowledged.”
Here, meet 2017’s fashion and beau-
ty winners, and a raft of other Austra-
lian stars who cheered their success.
