AIR RAVEL
NIGHTMARES
Stuck in the Middle
On a flight home to L.A. in April, Geoff
Fearns was in his first-class seat awaiting
takeoff when an airline employee asked
him to get off the plane because, as Fearns
told theLos Angeles Times, “the flight was
overbooked” and “they needed the seat
for somebody more important who came
at the last minute.” Threatened with
arrest if he didn’t comply, Fearns, who’d
paid $1,000 for his ticket, was eventually
relocated to economy, where he was
sandwiched between an angry couple who
refused to sit next to each other. “They
argued the whole way,” said Fearns.
“Nearly six hours. It was a lot of fun.”
