The Bachelor heart-throb has
been notably quiet about his
two-year relationship with
Sydney publicity boss Sara Bray- his last serious relationship
before meeting Georgia Love
on last year’s The Bachelorette.
Matty J and Sara reportedly
met in Sydney in 2011, before
moving to London where they
lived together – and then parted
ways in 2013. But while Matty J
has embarked on a very public
journey to find love through the
reality dating series, Sara is now
engaged after meeting new
fiance Alex Lloyd in 2014 – not
long after her split from Matty J.
And while sources tell New
Idea that Matty J is ‘really
happy’ for his former love Sara
and her upcoming wedding, he
can’t help but feel heartbroken
that his love life has taken
a different course.
‘For sure, Matty J just wants to
settle down, get married and have
kids,’ says the insider. ‘He and
Sara were really close and in love,
but things just didn’t work out.
‘And while he’s really happy for
her, and happy that she’s getting
married, I’m sure it would break
his heart a little that he’s
struggled to find love since they
broke up. He’d be feeling like he’s
wasted the last four years, while
Sara’s found lasting love.
‘I wouldn’t be surprised if he
hasn’t told the Bachelorettes
about Sara. He tends to stay quiet
about the whole relationship.’
During their relationship,
Sara and Matty J appeared to be
very much the couple in love.
Sara – who’s head of PR for
General Pants Co. – has cosy
photos of Matty J throughout
her Instagram page, with sweet
captions calling him ‘this
amazing human’ and ‘mine’.
In one fun photo, Sara, Matty
J and a friend beam as they pose
in matching Christmas jumpers,
which she captioned ‘sexy’.However, five years

But while their paths
have been very different,
ultimately they want the

was introduced to a bevy of
beauties vying for his heart –
supposedly for the first time as
they stepped out of a limousine.
But in a shocking twist of events
set to rock the hit dating show,
New Idea can exclusively reveal
the handsome Bachelor is hiding
a big secret – he’d already met
three of the contestants months
before filming began, leaving
network bosses scrambling to
cover it up.
‘Producers know all about it,
but everyone was told to keep it
quiet,’ our spy says. ‘Then one
night, the girls all got chatting
and confided in each other and
couldn’t believe how many of
them knew him.’Out with friends on New
Year’s Eve, the hunky marketing
manager locked eyes with student
Leah Costa at a Bondi pub.
Sharing the same group of
friends, according to the insider,
the pair enjoyed some time
together making small talk about
his time on The Bachelorette.
His next stop was the famous
Icebergs bar in Bondi, where he
spent the evening flirting with
jewellery designer Laura Bryne.
‘Laura and Matty are both
from Bondi, so it was probably
inevitable that they would have
met at some stage,’ our spy
spills. ‘But all that secrecy was
too much for some girls, who’d
had enough with all the drama.’
It was at his last stop thatevening, at a private party in
Vaucluse, where model Jen
Hawke caught his eye – and the
pair ‘got on really well’.
Left reeling by the news,
furious contestants have made it
clear they believed the girls had
received an unfair advantage- and things were only made
worse when Laura confessed she
had also been at the private
party, and spent even more time
with their love interest!
Demanding an emergency
meeting with the show’s bosses,
some disgruntled contestants
begged to leave.
‘They were ready to go
home, but producers managed
to convince them to stay on,’
the insider says.
