READER OF
THE WEEK
I rented my investment property to
a friend, but he lost his job soon after
moving in. Now he and his partner are
weeks behind in the rent, which has caused
arguments. He says I’m being selfish and a
bad friend for making demands on him, but I
can’t afford to support him.
Chris, via email.
Every day my co-worker tells anyone
who will listen about how her husband
left her and their two young kids for
another woman. I feel sorry for her but she
complains about the same thing every day, so
I’m losing patience.
Shannon, Woolloongabba, Qld.
You are not running a charity! He is
dishonest in refusing to pay the rent
and puts you on a guilt trip. Do not
think twice – your friend and his partner have
to go ASAP. It probably will be an unpleasant
experience, so make sure you have back-up. You are
in the right – you need to protect your property.
HOME INVADER
Your co-worker is hurting; she is
probably unaware she is running off at
the mouth. She is in a bad place and
needs understanding friends. Are you close? You
could suggest a few sessions with a psychiatrist
or psychologist. Patience – it’s a virtue!
SAD CHATTERBOX
BAD NEIGHBOURS
I am a very light sleeper and have
the world’s loudest neighbours. They
regularly have parties that go all
night, and I’ve tried everything from talking
to them politely about it to calling the police
on them. Do I need to move, or is there
something else I can do?
Brenda, Alexandria, NSW.
The need to move because of noisy
neighbours is a major concern, and it’s
sad you have to consider such a drastic
measure. You have talked to the culprits and
called the police. The future looks bleak. If the
neighbours are renters, you could complain to
the owner. Moving should be a last resort.

FINDING
HAPPINESS
I want to congratulate
Matt Golinski on his
engagement to his
girlfriend Erin Yarwood
(NI Aug 7). He has been through
a heartbreaking time after the
loss of his wife and children,
and it’s taken him a while to
get himself back to good health
again. He deserves to have
some happiness in his life, and
I want to wish him and his future
family all the best.

ROYALS ON SHOW
Thanks for including such
delightful photos of the royal
family in Europe (NI Jul 31). Little
Prince George and Princess
Charlotte stole the show – and
our hearts! It must have been
a tough and tiring time for the
little ones, but they still
captivated us all. And it is like
a breath of fresh air to read
about them having such a good
time with their loving parents,
Prince William and Duchess Kate.
