I’ve been the family cook for the last 24
years on account of when my wife
was pregnant with our first child,
she would get morning sickness at
dinner time. So necessity became
the mother of invention. Though
one time when I made pasta, I used
yogurt to make it creamier. It was
rank! And do you think my family
let me forget it? Every night when
I’m asked what’s for dinner, before
I can answer they say: ‘It’s not
that yogurt pasta disaster again?’AMANDA SAYS...
I’ve had some spectacular cooking disasters.
With guests pulling into the
driveway, I took the cake for
afternoon tea from the oven. My
dog hovered expectantly. ‘This
isn’t for dogs,’ I say as I stumble
and tip chocolate cake over her
head. Then there was the time at
a dinner party I up-ended a bowl
of mashed potato all over the
floor. The guests looked on in
horror as I scooped it up – dog
hair and all – and served it!It’s safe to say both Amanda and Jonesy
