asr early editions hk monaro
I own Steve Langham’s old black HK Monaro from Orange you featured in
ASR 006, and ASR 008 Rickshaws show feature.
I purchased the Monaro when I was 16 and I am now 51... I parked it up
in my shed around 25 years ago and I am working on getting it back on the
road with supercharged big block, as it was all those years ago. The car is in
good shape due to being garaged all those years.
You mentioned you would have taken more than a couple of pictures
when photographing it in the different editions and would look them up in
your files.
The car in 006 edition was black with no flames, in 008 it had flames

only from the flutes, but when I purchased the car it had an American flag
with flames from the flutes to the rear quarters. Did you ever have any
pictures with this design? I will email you a picture of the final design.
I would be very interested in getting copies of whatever you have to keep
in my files about the history of the car.
When ready to relaunch I would be happy for you to feature it again.

australia’s First hot rod?
We believe the photo (right) shows Australia’s first hot rod. The vehicle was
recently discovered in a shed at Tallarook, Victoria and dates from the late
1800s.

congratulations - laurie starling aWard
Through the pages of your magazine I would like to congratulate Steve Alldrick
of “Deluxe Rod Shop” on winning the Laurie Starling award at this year’s
Meguiars MotorEx.
This award is recognition of metal work skills and innovative work. There
is little doubt that Steve is the Chip Foose of Australia and his dedication and
contribution to Rodding is obvious.
Congratulations Steve, we are proud of you.
