  1. This scene will be repeated at rod runs all over the country this summer.
The members of PDMC only took eight weeks to bring it together.

  2. I built this ’40 Ford Delivery and Mullins trailer combo especially
for the diorama. The trailer started as a vac-form over a carved wooden
mould. How else are you going to get your Coca Cola to the event?

  3. This formidable ’56 GMC COe truck was the work of the late Ken Searle.
Can’t you just see this in full scale?

  4. Ken Searle’s ’50 Ford Mainline was a treat for us all. This is a fibreglass
conversion kit for AMT’s ’50 Ford convertible.

  5. Neville Riseley put his own spin on the ageless Monogram ’23 T bucket
with a rat rod theme, complete with Mexican blanket upholstery.

  6. With radically slammed Model As being flavour of the month, Allen
Bunter took things one step further with his rendition of the 1/16th scale
    Minicraft ’30 A sedan delivery.
    7. Dave Loye’s Ardun powered Revell ’29 Closed cab pickup screamed
straight out of the pages of a 1962 Hot Rod magazine. Dave added some
very fine detail to this challenging-to-assemble model.
    8. This ultra-realistic lake setting was the work of Ute Barton, her first
ever attempt at a diorama. Many weeks were spent on sculpturing the
lake banks and adapting artificial aquarium plants into believable foliage.
It was the centre-piece of the PDMC display.
    9. A whole section of the display was devoted to the restored models of
the late Gary Ritchie. This Monogram ’37 Tudor won Best Paint in the
model show at the ’99 Geelong ASRF Nationals.
    10. Dave McKay laid a mile of deep coat of pearl purple on an old favourite,
    the AMT ’40 Ford coupe.
    11. Ruben Cool is a devotee of traditional rods as illustrated by this
stunning candy apple red Revell ’32 coupe.

Super Model Car Sunday 2017

A magnificent Western Australian winter’s day greeted Perth modellers
for the 19th annual Super Model Car Sunday. Sixy-six entrants presented
952 models and 13 dioramas to an appreciative public. The star of the
show was the magnificent open air car show diorama built by members
of Perth and Districts Model Club. At around seven metres long and 1.
metres wide it must be surely be one of the largest model car dioramas
ever built. The detail in this display was magnificent and had show-goers

spellbound all day. It was dedicated to the memory of our great mate Ken
Searle who passed away barely four weeks earlier. Indeed, many of his
figures and diorama details were present as he had planned, so sit back
and enjoy some of the rod and custom highlights of this big day out for
scale rodders.
Thanks to Dave McKay for supplying additional photos for this month’s
Scale Rodding column. n
