That incredible paint scheme was a joint effort
between Smith Concepts and DNA Paints. DNA sponsored
the respray and Kyle spent three weeks masking and
applying the paint in several stages. Starting with an Ice
White base coat and blue pearl, Kyle masked up all the
panels and then used a blue candy mixed with a white
to get the light blue colour and added Purple Obsession
candy touches along with the gold leaf treatment on the
doors. “Brain Fade” then made its debut appearance at
The Boogaloo Invitational in April this year.
“Webby built an absolutely phenomenal car, he’s an
awesome builder and it’s a credit to him for building this
car to be able to drive it on the road, which I do a lot. I’ve driven it
down to Melbourne two or three times, up to Queensland and all
over the joint. I’ve got a firm belief that if you’re going to build
something that looks wild you’ve still gotta be able to use it. There’s
no use building them if they’re just going to sit there and not get
driven. I’ve also recently picked up a 1947 Pontiac Streamline that
we’re about to go to town on. It’s got a 454 big block, Turbo 400, Jag
front end, nine inch rear end with four link and air bag suspension,
all it needs is paint. Thanks to Webby for building such a great car,
DNA for supplying the paint, my team at Smith Concepts and my
wife and two boys for allowing me to buy the car in the first place.”
