right: This wild van belongs to Steve Austin and is an ex-military
1946 International KB5 mail truck that has been mounted on a
customised 1982 Chev C30 chassis.
Rolling on custom 22 inch Alcoa
wheels with air bag suspension,
the KB5 boasts a 1000 horsepower
528ci blown Hemi with a stainless
four inch exhaust backed by a
custom 727 transmission and
custom Dana rear end.


of Caloundra. Perfect weather made for a fantastic day and some incredible
vehicles were proudly on show for the public to drool over. Saturday evening
was again left open for entrants to please themselves.
After breakfast on the Sunday, everyone headed out to Aussie World for the
driving events. Plenty of entrants got involved in the fun but by lunch-time the
clouds broke loose and the trophy presentations brought the weekend to a close.
The Downunder Beachfest has grown by leaps and bounds in its short three
years and will be on again next year from June 6-10. It is sure to be another
fantastic weekend so book it in early if you are planning to attend. n
