This years Cooly rocks on festival was scaled back from previous

years with all the regular action packed into a ve day event

from June 7 to 11. starting on the Wednesday, the event program

included loads of activities along with a huge line up of great

bands ready to entertain thousands of swing, rockabilly and rock

’n’ roll fans.

A dyno challenge, dance workshops, cruises, carnival rides,

a buskers showcase, classic movies, a Garage Torque session, a

swap meet, fashion parades, a pinup pageant, roller skating, a

quiz night, reworks and much more gave punters plenty to

see and do over the four days and while the weather was ne

for most of the event, it was somewhat disrupted by rain on the

last day.

There aren’t many show and shine events that rival the

sheer size of Cooly rocks on and although vehicle entries

seemed to be down compared to previous years, there was still

loads of cool rides on display including a good number of street

rods, especially during the saturday show and shine.

Cooly rocks on will no doubt shake up Coolangatta again next

year. dates for the 2018 festival are June 6-10.
