For the last few years Jeff and Heather Cooper, owners of The
Rubber Connection at Dandenong have hosted a Cancer Council
“Big Morning Tea” at the end of May. This years “Big Morning
Tea” fell on Saturday May 27th. It was a great success with over
$2000 going straight to the Cancer Council for further research
into the evil disease. The day kicked off at about 9:00am and by
9:30am the 100 or so car park spaces in the business court were
fi lling quickly as the old iron rolled in. By 10:00am any parking
space was claimed. Following this, two rows of cars line up and
down the centre of the court and still more kept coming to spill
out on either end. As soon as one car rolled out, there was always
another car ready to take its place, and that’s how it went all
morning. It was estimated that around 250 cruisers made the
scene in aid of cancer research.

Inside the trading was basically suspended for the morning
apart from the Cancer Council selling coffee, cakes and slices
and if that wasn’t substantial enough, there was the barbecue
outside offering egg and bacon sangas or long steaks in a slice of
bread.
The good people at the Cancer Council and The Rubber
Connection would like to thank all those who supported “The
Big Morning Tea” by generously donating cash, goods for raffl es
and/or assisting in any way on the day. Further donations can
be given via the Cancer Council website. The event will be on
again at the end of May 2018. Kick the car into drive to help kick
cancer in the butt.
