Palmerston North Hot Rod Club stalwarts
errol and Val Mollett cruise in the injected V
powered sports coupe.BeLOW: Just one section of the blacktop that
was covered in rides from the US of A.ABOVe: Todd Runciman’s all steel A Model
coupe has a well dressed y-block under the
hood. The finned Merc rocker covers look
awesome as do the “Lime-fire” headers and
black solids!
ABOVe: Model A coupe belongs to Hustlers
members Bryan and Betty Beswick. It runs a
small block Chevrolet and auto, sports some
killer flames and handles ultra well with an
independent front suspension set up and four
bars out back.ABOVe: Another from the Idlers Car Club
garage of cool rides is Dylan and Sacha Smith’s
left hook Spinner. A set of triples feed the 289
under the hood and it’s backed up by a three
speed manual gear sack.ABOVe: Gear Jammers members Mike and Rita Hutchings in their satin
hued Chevy coupe. Ultra cool ’38 runs a small block and auto, and looks
at home with American Racing Torque Thrust Twos under the guards.
ABOVe CeNTRe: Neil Flaws has the pink slip for his stunning Fairlane,
mint blue oval ride gets plenty of use. Neil runs with Western Bays
Street Rodders.
ABOVe RIGHT: Absolute genuine Texas barn find here! Stunning low
mileage Deuce coupe has the factory flathead under the hood. It’s
owned by Clive Taylor, but was on loan to Barry and Pru Cullen from
Capital Rodders who cruised north to raise a glass to Uncle Sam.
Happy 4th of July!TOP: “Smith Autos” kept folk busy for a while looking over the goings on inside a busy
shop, the resulting show outside had traffic at crawl pace taking it in!
ABOVe: Barry “Blobby” is a Tararua member he spends plenty of time behind the wheel of
his much driven ’61 Chevy sedan. The ’61 has been big block powered and has also torn up
the drag strip, she spends her retirement days now cruising with Blobby and good lady
“Scruff” pampering her!
ABOVe RIGHT: Idlers Car Club member Hayden Beissel has a set of dual carbs on the factory
flathead, his and wife Nicky’s fat ’40s era Ford is a recent Californian import and is one
immaculate hot rod!
